Health Professions

The MU School of Health Professions (SHP) is the University of Missouri system’s only school of health professions and the state’s only public health program located on a health sciences campus. With programs in rehabilitation, diagnostic and imaging sciences, and a satellite program of the University of Missouri–Kansas City College of Pharmacy, graduates of the School of Health Professions fill critical roles in health care.

In 1908, Walter Williams founded a school—the world’s first to offer a journalism degree, the Missouri School of Journalism. Our school is where storytellers of all kinds can find their voices by using them first. This hands-on philosophy of learning-by-doing is what we call the Missouri Method.

Missouri journalism students dive into their careers early, gaining hands-on, career ready experience staffing six professional newsrooms and two advertising agencies while still in school. The professional journalists who manage these outlets will double as your professors. The School of Nursing continues to push forward with great new things. Our new building is starting to take shape. This space will have bright and open shared spaces to meet with classmates, and an expansive simulation center, and new technology throughout the building. Our NCLEX pass rates are still among the highest in the state and our students are securing jobs before they graduate. Undecided/Exploring Students

The Discovery Center is designed for students who are exploring multiple academic pathways. Our advisors work collaboratively with you to develop and accomplish your academic, career, and life goals and to find a fit between your interests, values, and abilities and what MU offers. In this session, our academic advisors will share more about how we will help you explore majors and navigate resources at Mizzou as a new student.
