We welcome applicants who earned a high school equivalency certificate from their home states.
The HiSET exam replaced the GED as the high school equivalency exam in Missouri on Jan. 1, 2014. You are still eligible for admission based on your GED exam scores if you took the exam before Jan. 1, 2014.
For more information, visit the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education’s website.
If you live outside of Missouri, check with your state’s department of education to find out which exam is used to determine high school equivalency.
You must earn the minimum required score on either the HiSET or GED exam in order to be eligible for admission into Mizzou. If your state uses the:
- HiSET exam to determine high school equivalency, you must score at least a 15 on each of the five sections of the exam.
- GED exam to determine high school equivalency, you must score at least a 165 on each of the four sections of the exam.
If you are admitted to Mizzou with a high school equivalency certificate, your first semester will be a probationary period.
Each academic unit specifies the terms to be removed from probation. Typically, you must:
- Take at least 12 credits during your first semester
- Earn at least a 2.0 GPA
