Guaranteed Admission to the University of Missouri
Starting summer 2027, rising high school seniors who are eligible Missouri 4-H members can earn guaranteed admission to the University of Missouri by demonstrating academic excellence, leadership, and meaningful engagement through Missouri 4-H.
This partnership recognizes what Missouri 4-H has always developed in its members—students who are prepared to succeed at Missouri’s flagship land-grant university.
Why 4-H Mizzou Ready?
Missouri 4-H prepares young people for success in college and beyond. The 4-H Mizzou Ready initiative recognizes students who have demonstrated:
- Academic achievement
- Leadership
- Communication skills
- Service to others
- College readiness
Students who complete these requirements have already demonstrated many of the same qualities associated with success at Mizzou.

Missouri 4-H is a key part of the University of Missouri’s land-grant mission of developing leaders for Missouri’s future, and that this pathway recognizes the proven connection between sustained 4-H engagement, academic preparation, leadership, and college success.
What is Guaranteed Admission?
Guaranteed admission means eligible students who complete the required pathway and submit the required documentation will receive an offer of admission to the University of Missouri without completing the traditional admission application.
Students simply:
- Complete the pathway requirements
- Declare their intent and request an official high school transcript be sent to MU Admissions by July 1
- Receive their admission decision from Mizzou 4-6 weeks later
Program Requirements
Must fulfill all three for admission
1. Academic Readiness
Students must demonstrate strong academic preparation by completing:
- Two or more AP or dual credit courses with grades of B or better
- AND
- Minimum 3.0 core GPA
OR
- ACT score of 24 or higher (primarily for homeschool students)
2. Local 4-H Experiences
Students demonstrate leadership through one of the following:
- Missouri 4-H Levels 1, 2, and 3 Awards
OR
Leadership and teaching experiences such as:
- Teaching younger 4-H members
- Leading educational workshops
- Creating instructional resources
- Serving as a club officer
- Planning county events
- Managing projects with measurable outcomes
3. State or National Experiences
Students complete either:
- Missouri 4-H Capstone Project (coming Fall 2026)
OR participate in experiences such as:
- State 4-H Council
- State Ambassador Programs (e.g., civic, shooting sports)
- National 4-H Congress
- National 4-H Conference
- Ignite
- Legislative Academy
- 4-H College & Career Pathways Conference
- Any campus-based state-level 4-H competition (e.g., meats judging)
National Youth in Action Award
Recipients of the National 4-H Youth in Action Award automatically satisfy the local, state/national leadership and experience portions of the pathway.
Timeline
Freshman & Sophomore Year
- explore interests

Junior Year
- finish all pathway requirements
- maintain academic performance
- watch for an email from Missouri 4-H and Mizzou on May 1 to declare your interest to attend MU
By July 1

- request that your high school submit your official transcript to Mizzou Admissions
By August 1
before Senior year
- receive your admissions decision

No. MU Admissions already has your information on file. Students simply submit their intent to enroll and transcript by July 1 following their Junior year and 4-H and Mizzou Admissions will take care of the rest.

You may still apply to Mizzou through the traditional admission process, but you lose the guaranteed admission benefit.
You are still encouraged to apply through Mizzou’s normal admission process.
Yes. Homeschooled students may demonstrate academic readiness through the ACT pathway.
Admission and scholarships are separate processes. Students admitted as part of the 4-H Mizzou Ready Pathway will be eligible for scholarship consideration. Students should complete outside scholarship applications and FAFSA according to published deadlines.
The Missouri 4-H Foundation offers educational scholarships for 4-H youth and former 4-H members pursuing post-secondary study. The application window is January 1 – March 1.
