Why did you choose MU?
I transferred from a school in San Francisco in my second year to MU because of its fisheries and wildlife program. I was interested in going into animal sciences and found out MU had what I wanted.
Describe your experience at MU.
I’m enjoying my time here. The people are really nice. When I first arrived here, I got a lot of help from friends that I met in the dorms, like my roommate. I also made a friend in the faculty, Dr. Daniel Hassett. I did lab work and research for him when I first arrived at MU. I learned a lot from him both as a friend and a faculty member.
Were there any programs or services that you found particularly helpful?
I was enrolled in a conversation program with an American student that allowed me to practice my conversation skills. I also participated in the international student conversation program. A lot of students from different countries would get together every Friday, and we’d talk about what was going on that weekend and next week.
I got involved with both of these programs through the International Center. They helped me make friends and get used to the atmosphere here.
How do you like Columbia?
I like living in Columbia. I actually prefer living in a small town. I spent most of my life living in a big city, and living here is a different experience. Life here is less stressful, more easygoing and moves at a slower pace.
Anything else you’d like to add?
At Mizzou, you can really experience school life. There are a lot of options of what to study. It’s easy to change majors, but hard to decide what to study!
The school spirit is great, and when you walk around campus, everyone is wearing Mizzou sweaters or hats. I think if you’re looking for school spirit, Mizzou’s the place for you. |
