This summary provides only the minimum GPA and prerequisite requirements for admission to each college or professional program. Full admission to particular majors within each college or program may require higher GPA or specific course requirements met after admission. For more information, contact the academic program. Students planning to transfer with less than 24 hours must meet the admission requirements for first-time freshmen.
Accountancy, School of

- Five-year program leading to master’s degree; BS awarded upon receipt of master’s degree.
- Minimum 54 college credits; competitive admission with a minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA and completion of specified pre-accountancy courses with a cumulative 3.0 GPA. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. See the School of Accountancy Web site for more information.
Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, College of

- Students planning to major in agricultural economics or agribusiness management must obtain a 2.7 MU GPA before admission into program.
- Agricultural education requires an MU GPA of 2.3 before full admission into the program.
- For all other majors, same as general admission.
Arts and Science, College of

- All applicants must meet requirements for general admission.
- Requirements for full admission to specific departments are ordinarily expected to be completed by the beginning of the junior year. Full admission to some majors requires higher MU GPAs and/or the successful completion of specified courses.
Business, College of

- BSBA degree with emphasis areas in economics, finance, international business, management, marketing and real estate.
- Competitive admission. You must have at least a 2.6 GPA, with specific prerequisite courses required, especially in math.
- Meeting minimum requirements for review does not guarantee admission.
Education, College of

- BS Ed degrees leading to certification in Early Childhood Elementary, Middle School, Secondary Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, K-12, or Music or Special Education Cross-Categorical.
- At least 45 hours are required before admission to specific program in education.
- 22 composite ACT required for admittance.
- 600 on TOEFL for international students required for admittance.
- 2.5 to 2.75 GPA, with specific prerequisite courses required.
- A separate application process is required for admission to Phase II of the programs. Some areas have limited enrollment in Phase II.
Engineering, College of

- Students who meet the requirements for first-time freshmen must have earned a cumulative GPA of 2.0 at each institution attended, and a minimum GPA of 2.0 during the last term attended at each institution.
- Students not meeting Mizzou’s requirements for first-time freshmen must have earned a cumulative GPA of 2.0, minimum of 2.0 from each institution attended; a minimum GPA of 2.0 during the last term attended at each previous institution; a composite GPA of 2.5 or higher for the coursework taken at all prior institutions; and a minimum GPA of 2.5 during the last term at the student's most recent institution.
- Starting Fall 2007, the requirements for engineering will be a cumulative GPA of 2.5 at every institution attended, and a minimum GPA of 2.0 during the last term enrolled at every institution attended.
Fine Arts, School of

Health Professions, School of

- Minimum GPA for admission varies with department. Limited enrollment; very competitive.
Human Environmental Sciences, College of

- Transfer students planning to pursue Family & Consumer Science Education will need to obtain an MU GPA of 2.75 for full admission to the program.
- Admission to all environmental design programs requires competitive passage of a portfolio review to gain full admission.
- Admission requirements for all other majors is the same as general admission.
Journalism, School of

- Students with fewer than 60 credits and a transfer GPA lower than 3.0 are admitted to prejournalism in the College of Arts and Sciences.
- Admission to any program in the School of Journalism is highly competitive and based upon completion of a specific set of requirements and a competitive GPA at Mizzou.
- Students are encouraged to transfer with no more than 45 credit hours or admission to the program within the School will be delayed. Courses in journalism and communication transferred from other institutions are not accepted by the School of Journalism at MU.
Music, School of

- Music requires an audition after general admission to the University.
Natural Resources, School of

Nursing, School of

- Students should work with a School of Nursing adviser to ensure that all MU general education course requirements are met. This may impact when student may apply to the clinical major.
- Competitive GPA and there are limited seats in clinical courses each year.
Social Work, School of

- Students transferring with more than 55 credit hours must be in good academic standing and have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher on all college work attempted.
