Why did you come to Mizzou?
I came to Mizzou because I wanted to experience living in a different city. Mizzou offered everything I was looking for: quality academics, athletics, a fun environment and many student activities. The campus was very appealing to me, as was the quality of the professors and research at MU.
When I attended Mizzou, my favorite class was / I was involved in: My favorite class was an internship I had at the State Capitol through the CLIP program in the Office of Service Learning. I’m really interested in politics, so being at the capitol everyday was a great experience and very exciting.
I was involved in a variety of activities while I was a student at MU. I had great experiences with all of them.
I was a member of the Alumni Association Student Board (AASB) which oversees the True Tiger program and plans fun events for students ranging from Tiger Walk to Beat kU week. I helped start and was a member of the Peers Advocating Smoke-free Solutions (PASS) organization. We worked to help advocate for the smoke-free ordinance in Columbia. I was involved in a social sorority where I made a lot of great friends and had a lot of fun opportunities. I was a member of Mizzou’s student government, the Missouri Students Association (MSA). I started off in the MSA Senate and later ran for and was elected to serve as Student Body President.
What question do you wish students would ask?
I wish students would ask more about extracurricular involvement. My activities outside of the classroom taught me a lot of valuable experiences that enhanced my education. MU and Columbia have so many wonderful opportunities and resources for students to take advantage of to gain real world experiences while still in school (opportunities to be published, be paid or earn credit while doing them too!)
What compelled you to stay and work at Mizzou after graduation?
I really fell in love with Columbia and the MU community. I have a real passion for Mizzou and higher education which makes being an Admissions Representative an ideal job. I strongly believe in Mizzou’s land grant mission and working to make higher education more affordable and accessible for everyone. |
