Why did you come to Mizzou?
I am a fourth generation Tiger. My parents and many of my aunts, uncles, and all of my cousins (so far) have attended the University of Missouri. I had a hunch growing up in Columbia and cheering for the Tigers that I would end up staying in Columbia for college. I did visit other schools while I was still in high school but no one could compare to Mizzou! I knew staying in Columbia would allow me to matriculate at a school with outstanding scholastics, rewarding extracurricular activities and one of the most beautiful campuses in the country.
When I attended Mizzou, my favorite class was / I was involved in:
I had many but one of my favorite classes at Mizzou was a Cultural Anthropology course. I was amazed to learn about cultures so different from my own and how these societies developed. These cultures have dramatically different social structures and gender roles. This course made it easier to understand how people in different places around the world may not have the same perspective or beliefs as we have here in the United States.
My extracurricular activities were what I truly enjoyed about my time at Mizzou. I was involved in Greek Life, serving various positions in my fraternity from serenade chairman to food steward to the homecoming campus decoration chairman.
As a member of the Alumni Association Student Board, I was able to work with other outstanding MU students to plan and carry out events such Beat KU week, Tiger Walk and Senior Send-Off. AASB also allowed me to network with Mizzou alumni and students from other universities all over the country. Being in charge of royalty for the Homecoming Steering Committee was a great pleasure as I was able to help celebrate the most outstanding MU students during one of the nation’s finest Homecoming celebrations.
My most rewarding activity was being on the Rockin’ Against Multiple Sclerosis steering committee. In the two years I was part of the committee we raised over $120,000 that was donated to the Central Missouri MS Institute.
What compelled you to stay and work at Mizzou after graduation?
I never want to leave. I wouldn’t trade my college experience at MU for anything. To be able to still come to campus everyday, and to work with other people who really love Mizzou is very exciting. While some people might have depressing or difficult jobs, mine is to help educate potential students who are motivated and want to better themselves. Hopefully they can all become Tigers and come to love Mizzou as much as I do. |
