What if I don't meet your stated admission requirements? Is there any way I can still be admitted to Mizzou?
If you do not meet Mizzou’s published admission requirements, you have a number of options:

  • Retake the ACT or SAT. Mizzou even offers the ACT on campus as a residual exam, which means you can take it for purposes of admission to Mizzou, though not for other schools or for scholarships.
  • You can request admission to our Trial Admission Program.
  • If the options listed above do not work out for you, you can always apply as a transfer student. You can attend your local community college and earn a minimum of 24 college level credits. As long as you have at least a 2.5 GPA you may be eligible for admission. More

Do you accept dual credit, AP and IB coursework for advanced credit?
We accept both AP credit and dual credit. There is no limit on the number of courses accepted as dual credit or AP. However, we encourage students to take general education courses rather than courses in their intended major. MU also recognizes the International Baccalaureate Diploma for admission and grants course credit and advanced placement to students who have passed the higher level subject examinations at a satisfactory standard. MU doesn't grant credit for subsidiary level examinations.

My high school does not rank students. How will that affect my application?
Mizzou has traditionally looked at a combination of a student’s class rank, ACT or SAT score, and core courses for admission purposes. However, for high schools that do not rank their students, MU will look instead at the core grade point average in the required core courses for admission along with the ACT or SAT scores.

What does it cost to attend Mizzou?
Mizzou’s powerhouse education is surprisingly affordable: Tuition is $8,500 for Missouri residents and $18,850 for nonresidents (based on 14 hours per semester: includes fees for activities, information technology, recreation center and health services). Four out of five Mizzou students receive financial assistance, which might include loans, as well as scholarships and grants. More about costs … More about financial aid for future students.

How do I get Missouri residency?
The conditions that determine residency are very specific, and in all cases require that you have lived in Missouri at least 12 months and intend to reside here permanently. More about residency requirements
