Tips about roommates: It sounds cliché, but communication is so key. As long as you establish expectations (about studying and cleaning, etc.), you can live harmoniously, and it can be a fun experience.

Things not to forget: Don’t forget your phone charger (yes, I did that)! Also, little things like scissors, markers, iPod, camera and a shower caddy are all nice to have.

Piece of advice for new students living in a residence hall: The best advice I can give would be to get to know your fellow students, learn where and how you can study effectively, and enjoy the wonderful freedom of living on your own.

Reasons to join a FIG: It’s great to know some people in your classes because, especially in freshman year, you tend to be enrolled in lots of huge lectures. It’s also an easy way to meet people with interests similar to yours.

Things I wish I had done/known: I wish I would have used the rec center more, explored downtown and gotten to know my professors.
