Major and graduation year: journalism with a minor in English and Spanish ’10
Hometown: San Antonio, Texas
Residence: Johnston Hall
Ways to make your room like home: Pictures! I hang up notes, pictures and cards that I have received from family and friends. It’s really helpful, especially if you are prone to being homesick like me.
What I’m really glad I brought: I am really glad that I brought a lot of pillows from home because they make the beds more comfortable.
Things to leave behind: Do not bring too many clothes. Only bring what you know you will use because, if not, you may have trouble finding places to store the extra clothes.
Piece of advice for new students living in a residence hall: Be social and open to meeting new people. Join floor government because it gives you an awesome opportunity to bond with some amazing people. Be open to meeting new people because everyone is different and amazing in their own way. Also, stay active!
Reasons to join a FIG: You are able to meet a lot of new people, and it makes it easier to be social.
Things I wish I had done/known: I wish I had known all of the opportunities made available to students in FIGs.
