Financial Aid —
Important Dates
December 1: If you're applying for Mizzou scholarships, your admissions application and scholarship application are due today.
After December 1: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid for the following school year becomes available. The FAFSA cannot be submitted before Jan. 1.
March 1: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is due for priority consideration.
After April 1: Eligible students receive award letters for financial aid.
May 1: Last day to submit an admissions application for the following fall. If you wait until this date, limited financial aid is available.

Students who have never received veteran benefits

These forms pertain to the following classifications:
Chapter 30 — Montgomery GI Bill (prior active duty)
Chapter 1606 — Montgomery GI Bill (Reserves/National Guard/MO Guard)
Chapter 1607 — REAP enhanced benefits after a deployment (you must elect this, please see Carol Fleisher)
Chapter 34/30 — Conversion to Montgomery GI bill
Chapter 31 — Vocational rehabilitation

  • Application for Educational Assistance (Form 22-1990) (PDF) — Please bring or send this with the enrollment form below.  If you are prior active duty, send a copy of your DD-214 discharge documents.  If you are a member of the National or State Guard, send a copy of the Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE) given to you by your Guard unit clerk.
  • MU Form for Veteran Enrollment (PDF) — This form is for veterans to report semester enrollments to the Veterans Services offices for certification by the VA.

Dependents or Spouse of 100% Disabled or Deceased Veterans (Chapter 35)

  • Application for Educational Assistance (Form 22-5490) (PDF) — Send this form to the VA offices at:

  • You will receive a letter of eligibility from Veterans Affairs.  Send this letter to MU Veterans Services with the Veteran Enrollment form.
  • MU Form for Veteran Enrollment (PDF) — This form is for Veterans to report their semester enrollments to the Veterans Services offices for certification by the VA.
  • Please remember to include your social security number and VA Claim number (file number found on letter of eligibility) on your enrollment form.  We cannot certify your studies unless we have both numbers.
  • Once MU receives your letter of eligibility and the enrollment form, we will certify your university credit hours and mail a VA22-1999 form to Veterans Affairs.  This will start your benefits.
