NOTE: Your monthly check may include a “kicker.” “Kickers” are amounts contributed by Department of Defense (DOD) to an education fund on behalf of individuals to encourage enlistment or retention in the Armed Forces, usually in specialized areas. VA only pays “kickers” to individuals authorized by DOD. If your payment includes a “kicker,” he kicker is not increased but the basic rate is increased.

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING MONTHLY VERIFICATIONS: You can now submit your monthly verification forms by touch-tone telephone at 1-877-823-2378 (toll free) OR connect to our Internet site at www.gibill.va.gov and follow the link to the Web Automated Verification of Enrollment (WAVE) program. If your enrollment has changed during the month, you must verify your enrollment through the WAVE program.

If you want to use one of the methods above and do not want to receive verifications in the mail each month, call 1-888-GIBILL1 and the counselor will change your record to stop the mailing of paper verifications. You do, however, have to verify your enrollment each month in order to receive payment.
