Steps in Applying for Financial Aid
  1. Apply for admission to Mizzou. You may wish to apply for a Mizzou scholarship at the same time; if so, be sure to meet the earlier scholarship application deadline (see “Important Dates,” left).
  2. Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is available from your high school counselor, the Mizzou’s Student Financial Aid Office or FAFSA on the Web. Mizzou’s FAFSA code is 002516. Important FAFSA dates are noted at the left.
  3. Complete your federal income tax return in time to submit the FAFSA. If you are unable to complete your tax return, you can estimate and correct the information later.
  4. Six weeks after you’ve mailed your FAFSA, you should receive your Student Aid Report (SAR). If you don’t, visit the FAFSA web site or call 1-800-4-FED-AID. Review the information on your SAR; if it is inaccurate, make changes and return it to the federal processor at the address on the form.
  5. Submit any additional forms requested by Student Financial Aid. This may include copies of a recent federal tax return.
  6. Your award letter from Mizzou should arrive in April. The letter will summarize your financial aid package. Review it carefully and follow any instructions.
