School of Medicine

Mizzou’s School of Medicine is a pioneer in the problem-based learning style of medical education, which emphasizes problem-solving, self-directed learning and clinical experience beginning in the first year of medical study. U.S. News and World Report consistently ranks Mizzou’s family and community medicine department as one of the top three family medicine programs in the country.

Through the Rural Scholars Program, the school recruits students and provides numerous training opportunities in rural areas, as it has for more than 40 years. The School of Medicine does not offer undergraduate degrees, but ambitious undergraduates can apply for a spot in the Conley Scholars Program, which guarantees acceptance into the school to qualified freshmen from Missouri and contiguous states who attend the University.
