#9 The friends you'll meet.
When I came here, I only knew five people. One of my biggest fears was not knowing anybody. I was a member of a FIG, which became a big part of my life. I ended up meeting a great group of friends and rooming with a guy who is now one of my best friends.

The best way to meet people is to get out and get involved. Mizzou’s a big school, and there are so many people out there, you’re bound to meet someone you like. It’s a larger campus, but you can meet people through smaller groups, like at one of our student organizations.

I’m a member of STRIPES, a safe ride home program for Mizzou students that runs Thursday through Saturday nights. The first time I went, I loved it. It’s a long night, but you meet some interesting people. I’m also part of the Association of Accounting Students. It gives you a broad oversight into different accounting programs. Companies will come to speak to us, and it’s a great way to meet people and start making connections. I’m also a member of Outreach, Mizzou’s student recruitment team.

So remember to go out there and try new things, you may be surprised where it takes you.
